A Little Trick to Boost Productivity [VIDEO enclosed]

I have a little trick to create more intentional productivity in your life that I learned in high school.

It's the BEAUTY BREAK, a little midday pause for something that makes you look and feel good.

Beauty breaks began for me in high school. I had a friend and mentor who was four years older than me named Paula. She was a straight-A student, a track star, and she actually looked like the model, Paulina Porizkova. She took me under her wing and would treat me to lunch or ice cream, giving me amazing advice and making a huge impact on my life.

One day, she said, “Angie, it’s really important in the morning to get dressed up and always try to look your best because it will make you stand a bit taller, help you feel more confident, make you focus, pay more attention, and put in your A game.”

A beauty break can be a mani/pedi, a blowout, facial (DIY or at a salon)—little moments you sprinkle throughout the week. And, best of all, it kills three birds with one stone:

  1. You look and feel your best, which increases confidence.

  2. You are more efficient because you don’t take much time to look presentable for that last-minute zoom meeting or an impromptu outing.

  3. You are more productive knowing that you have a little reward after you finish a project or task.

It’s best to schedule these moments into your planner or calendar and treat it as you would a meeting with a colleague or friend. I like to schedule beauty breaks after an intense meeting or project.

SCHEDULE IN YOUR BEAUTY BREAKS

For example, this past Tuesday was very intense with a lot of meetings, financial reporting, and marketing plan reviews. From 2-3 pm, I needed to power through an editing project, and I felt motivated to stay focused without distraction because I knew I had a mani/pedi beauty break at 3.

Here are other little beauty break ideas (can be done DIY or at a salon):

1. Mani/pedi: DIY or at a nail salon. I like to take my own eco-nail polish with pretty colors that boost my mood. A pop of color always makes typing at a computer a bit more fun! :)

2. Henna and coconut conditioner give you shiny strands. My partner’s sister introduced me to this brand after I admired her shiny hair, and I also use the multi-tasking Savor Beauty Coconut Pre-Cleanse Oil to condition my hair while I wait for the henna to work its magic (about an hour.) I always find a project to finish in an hour and then wash it off. (Make sure to apply shampoo to the coconut conditioner before you apply water—this helps to get all of the product off!)

3. Breathwork has been proven to improve blood circulation and skin clarity. If you’re interested in learning more about this, make sure to stay tuned for my 2023 Visioning Masterclass (launching this coming week!) where I show you how to raise your radiance to manifest your best self!

4. Lash extensions are a great way to look effortlessly glam and be instantly ready for any zoom meeting with zero prep. My friend, Suzette, swears by this lash company and tried to teach me how to apply, but I was hopeless! I’ll stick with the pros at the salon, but doesn’t this mom of three look fab?

5. Water with lime juice is a glow-booster that provides vitamin C immunity!

6. Blowouts are great for sleek hair all week long. Taking the time to get a blowout or to do one for yourself at home will save you time when you need to look good in a New York minute throughout the week. For professional blowouts, I keep the blowout for the first day, wear a ponytail on day two, and throw it up in a bun on the third day.

7. A daily at-home facial gives you a lifetime glow-on-the-go. For a fraction of the price of a facial, you can do the Savor Beauty Ritual at home for skin radiance. This set will give you three months of daily facials!

Skincare is a marathon, not a sprint! If you take care of your skin daily, you won’t need mounds of makeup and can show up au natural and glowing at a moment’s notice.

Here’s to beauty breaks, radiant soul! xx
